Who to Knock Out in Genshin Impact 5.5: An Overview of All Characters

We'll tell you who to choose for your account between a new main DD, a support for plunging attacks, and two buffers.

Varesa, Xian Yun, Venti and Shilonen

In the upcoming patch 5.5 в Genshin impact the main storyline will return to the history of Natlan and will allow you to visit the territories of the last tribe in the Pyro region - the Lot of the Blessed Lands. In addition to new locations, players will immediately expect two new characters - the legendary Varesa, Electro Catalyst, and 4⭐ Electro Spearwoman Iansan. Both heroes are available in the first half of the update, along with a rerun of Xian Yun, the Anemo Catalyst, who buffs her falling attack. The second phase of the banners is dedicated to reruns of Venti, the Anemo Archon from Mondstadt, and Shilonen, a strong Geo support from Natlan who reduces enemy resistance to allies' elements.

Each of the upcoming characters excels in different gameplay situations, is needed for completely different teams, or is more demanding than others. In addition, there may not be enough in-game currency for all the heroes, which is why you have to choose only one or two of them. To decide who to spin in the 5.5 update in Genshin Impact, it is recommended to pay attention to all the advantages and disadvantages of the upcoming characters.

An overview of the characters in the banners of Genshin Impact 5.5

Not only are the characters very different from each other, but in some cases they play well together in the same team, which makes it even more difficult to choose who exactly to pick from the banners. For this reason, it is worth examining all the gameplay features of these heroes in detail to determine who is needed to develop the account and complete the current content.

Varesa

Varesa

Varesa (Electro, catalyst) — the main Electro damage dealer from Natlan, whose gameplay is based on the constant use of attacks while falling. Unlike the already existing in the game Xiao (Anemo, spear) and Ka Mina (Pyro, two-handed sword), Varesa activates the Night Spirit's Blessing effect in battle, which forces her to stick to a certain rotation, helps her to hit with plunging attacks and increases damage. At the same time, the heroine cannot play without attacks while falling, which is why her gameplay can become very boring. In addition, Varesa can only deviate from the rotation if there are constellations that will bring her more convenience than on C0.

In addition to constellations, for comfort when passing the content, to increase the damage of Varese, it is advisable to have strong supports, for example, Xian Yun or Shilonen, who are knocked out in the same update. It is also worth noting that Ye Lan (Hydro, Onion), Xingqiu (Hydro, One-handed Sword) и Beidou (Electro, Two-handed Sword) do not work with the heroine, as she does not use basic attacks. For this reason, Varesa is not suitable for beginners who have a fairly small roster of characters on their account.

Xian Yun

Xian Yun

Xian Yun (Anemo, catalyst) — a highly specialized buffer for characters that play through attacks while falling. In addition to buffs and healing, it allows all heroes to perform plunging attacks, bringing variety to the gameplay of older heroes. In addition to Varesa, Xiao, and Ka Ming, it can be used to create interesting teams with Diluc (Pyro, two-handed sword), Hu Tao (Pyro, spear), Harlequin (Pyro, spear) and other characters that can infuse themselves on attacks. As for other squads, she can still enter them as a healer and wearer of the Viridescent Venerer artifact set.

However, Xian Yun is not a universal character, suitable for absolutely all game situations. Her narrow focus on enhancing a certain type of damage greatly limits the possibility of using the heroine in other squads, and the characters themselves from attacks while falling in the game are too few compared to other damage dealers.

Venti

Venti

Venti (Anemo, bow) — Archon of Mondstadt, who appeared in the game back in patch 1.0. He plays most comfortably only in squads with Cryo, Hydro, Pyro, and Electro, since due to his Anemo element, he must constantly trigger the Disperse reaction. Venti has one of the strongest ties in the game, and with the help of the skill, he simplifies exploration of the world, since he allows you to fly and get to hard-to-reach places.

However, despite the strength of the ult's pull, it is quite inconvenient in that it lifts small enemies off the ground. Not all characters will be able to reach the enemies and successfully attack them. In addition, Venti shows itself best only against groups of enemies, which is why it is worse in solo targeting than the budget one. catalyst SucroseAnd with swordsman Kazuha and can't compete at all due to the lack of a buff to allies' elemental damage.

Shilonen

Shilonen

Shilonen (Geo, one-handed sword) — a character from Natlan, possessing the mechanics of the Night Spirit, which is used both in battle and significantly simplifies the exploration of the open world, allowing to overcome any vertical and horizontal obstacles. The heroine fits best into squads with Pyro, Hydro, Cryo and Electro elements, and with the presence of a second constellation and into mono-Geo teams. Shilonen significantly reduces the resistance of enemies to these elements and has a strong heal, which makes her universal for most squads and suitable for passing the Twisted Abyss.

However, Shilonen cannot be called irreplaceable, since she fulfills almost the same role as Kazuha or Zhongli (Geo, spear) in the set archaic stone. If you have these two characters on your account, then there is no particular point in taking Shilonen additionally, except for getting variety. It is worth highlighting separately that the heroine is quite friendly to beginners, since she only needs protection, and as a weapon you can give her different swords, available without investing in banners.

Who to spin in update 5.5

Having figured out how the specified characters feel in the passage of current content, it is worth deciding what exactly is needed from a new character:

  • If there is a lack of strong damage dealers with high damage and unique mechanics, it is worth taking Varesu, who can take on the role of main DD and be the center of various teams through Electro Reaction. Remember that she only plays through attacks in the fall, which is why it will not be possible to diversify the gameplay for her, following a strict rotation.
  • Xian Yun It's only worth knocking out if there are already several characters on the account through attacks in the fall or Varesa was knocked out. It's also worth paying attention to for old players if you want to diversify classic squads.
  • Venti will make it easier to clear the floors of the Abyss with a large number of opponents and will help in mastering the open world. If there are no Anemo characters with a strong contraction on the account, then it is worth taking it. However, if you have both Kazuha and Sukharoz, the point of wasting spins on Venti is somewhat lost. In addition, pay attention to whether the main damage dealer with whom Venti will play can use high attacks. If not, then the contraction from the Anemo Archon is useless with him.
  • If you need a strong buffer to complete the content, then a great choice would be Shilonen. However, as with Venti, you need to decide who the girl will be on the same team with. She will not fit into groups with more than one Anemo or Dendro hero, and in the case of mono-Geo teams, for example, in a squad with Itto (Geo, two-handed sword), Shilonen will only be able to play if he has a second constellation.
