Reliquary is a side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which introduces the hero to the Modest Knight of Kutna Hora. The man practically prays to Mr. Valentin and asks him to find the sword that is buried with him in the nearest cemetery.
Find a way to get into the crypt and find the grave of Mr. Valentine, where the ancient sword should lie. In the guide, we will tell you about ways to get to the burial in the quest Reliquary in KCD 2 and how to forge a fake weapon for the Modest Knight.
How to start the Reliquary quest in KCD 2
The Reliquary quest will open after completing the story mission "Speak of the devil". When the game gives you access to the open world, head to the area at the edge of the forest north of Kutna Hora. A quest icon will appear on the map, and when you approach, you will find a tent in which the Modest Knight lives. Talk to the man and ask "What are you doing here?"to start the quest.
Walkthrough of the Reliquary quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
To help the Modest Knight find the sword, you will have to inspect several burials. Go to the crypt of the Sedlec Monastery, search the coffin of Mr. Valentin and create a copy of the ancient weapon to give it to the man.
Talk to Brother Morticius
If you haven't completed the "Ashes to Ashes" quest yet, the main passage to the crypt will be closed. To open the location, find Brother Morticius in the cemetery and talk to him - the priest is sitting by the grave in the western part of the cemetery, near the path leading to the crypt. Start a dialogue with him by choosing "Are you the one looking after the chapel?", and agree to help collect the bones - this task can be done in parallel, but its outcome will not affect the current quest.
Talking to Brother Morticius is just one way to get into the crypt. There are several other options that don't require starting a new quest.
Get into the crypt
Once you accept Morticius' quest, head to the abandoned chapel and interact with the wooden hatch on the floor. The character will fall into the desired dungeon.
If you don't want to start a new quest, try to get into the crypt in another way:
- Head to the southeastern part of the cemetery.
- Inspect the area near the wall: rummage around behind the bushes and find a closed entrance to the mine.
- If you are able to break a very complex lock, use lock picks on the door and open it. This action can be simplified by Cat's Paws potion.
- Move straight ahead and take the right passage when you reach the first fork.
This way you will get into the crypt without starting a separate quest with Morticius.
If you can't open the lock, use cheats for hacking.
Find Mr. Valentine's sword
In the crypt, look for the eastern room with several wooden coffins along the walls and one stone one at the end of the room to find Sir Valentin's sword:
- If you fell into the hall through a wooden hatch, go through the left passage leading to the east.
- At the far end of the room you will find a stone coffin. Interact with it to open the lid and examine the contents.
You won't find any treasure or sword inside, but Henry is an experienced blacksmith and can create a replica of a weapon just by looking at its engraving.
Interact with the coffin again to inspect the lid and move on to the next stage of the task.
Before leaving the cemetery, dig up the graves with high crosses that stand along the entire border of the location. There you will find treasures and several valuable items for sale.
Forge a fake sword of Mr. Valentine
Head to any forge to forge a fake Sir Valentin's sword. The closest one is in Kutna Hora, at the gunsmith or armorer. For forging you will need one of the following materials:
- copper;
- straight guard;
- cowhide;
- flat pommel of the sword;
- frankfurt steel;
- scrap iron
You can buy a straight guard and a flat pommel from any gunsmith, and get the rest of the materials from an armorer's shop. If you've leveled up your stealth and stealth skills enough, you can steal items from merchants' chests.
Once you have collected the necessary materials, interact with any forge and craft Mr. Valentine's sword - the necessary drawing is in the "Swords" section. The sketch will be saved, so in the future you will be able to create as many copies of the weapon as you want.
Take Mr. Valentine's sword to the knight
Put on your best armor before continuing the quest and equip a good weapon. Afterwards, take Sir Valentin's sword to the knight - the man is waiting for the hero in the same place where he gave the quest - north of Kutna Hora. Head to the character, talk to him and select the dialogue option "I have a sword for you. (Give it)".
The knight confesses that he hunts for ancient relics and sells them to rich lords. Henry should not know about this, so the man threatens to kill the hero. There are two possible scenarios:
- You picked the wrong guy. - a very difficult test of intimidation.
- I will defend myself - start a fight with the knight.
When passing the first test, the man will leave the hero alone and reward him with a useless trinket. The reward is modest, but you can get much more: kill or stun the knight, and take everything that lies in the camp. Among the items, you will find a lot of treasures, money, get expensive armor and a blueprint for a new weapon.
Reward
If you don't rob the knight, you'll only get Tooth of Saint Apollonia — a useless and cheap item that can be sold for a couple of dozen coins. In addition, the craft will retain drawing sword of sir Valentin, which you can forge whenever you wish.
If you decide to loot the camp, additionally find the following items:
- Mr. Valentine's sword;
- treasures and armor worth a total of a couple thousand coins;
- 250 groschen in the chest near the tent;
- a drawing of a knight's axe in the same box.
