In honor of the 20th anniversary of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, Nickelodeon has officially announced that the franchise will receive a sequel called "Seven Heavens". Twenty-six half-hour episodes, divided into two parts, are planned for release, and, as the creators assure, production has already begun. The work will return Michael Dante DiMartino и Brian Konietzko, who gave viewers the original title, as well as the studio Avatar Studios, where a full-length animated film is currently in development to expand the franchise.
The events of the future series are said to take place after the end of The Legend of Korra, and the plot will focus on the new Avatar, a female mage from the Earth tribe. At the time of the story's inception, the world has been destroyed by a cataclysm, and the title of Avatar is no longer a sign of salvation, but a harbinger of the death of humanity. The protagonist will have to uncover many secrets related to both saving the world and her own origin. The situation is worsened by the fact that she is being pursued by both people and spirits, and the only one she can rely on is her twin.
