To create balanced squads, we suggest studying the rating of the best characters Wuthering Waves, compiled based on their positions and performance on the battlefield. All tirlist resonators are endowed with unique abilities, strengths and weaknesses, and differ in classes and elements used. However, in the game you have to create teams in which each hero will be combined with other allies and will be useful.
It is important not only to pump up one fighter with high damage, but also to support him with the help of supports and sub-deaders who will heal, buff and protect the damage dealer. The flexibility of the resonator and the ability to adapt it to different mechanics and units will determine its overall usefulness. It is on this principle that it was compiled WooWoo character tier list, which will give you a general understanding of units and their potential to create optimal teams.
Top best Wuthering Waves characters [tier list]
The VUV range list includes both standard and limited resonators. The positions of all characters and their descriptions are distributed in ranks from S to D according to the following criteria:
- Optimal squad and support composition. A versatile hero who can fit into different teams and fits well with many characters will rank higher due to his flexibility.
- Level 90 Resonator, equipped with level 90 weapons (4⭐), legendary Echoes, upgraded strengths [Fortes]. Keep in mind that character builds in WuWa differ between players depending on the quality of Echo, so the same character may show different results.
- Level 0 Wavebands for 5⭐ units and Level 2/3 wavebands for 4⭐ heroes. Depends on the presence of useful constants, or, as they are called in the game, early links of the Resonance Chain.
The selection of squad, Echo and weapons affects the balance and strength of the resonator. Any hero with upgraded legendary equipment can be on the list of the best characters Woosering Waves position higher. Moreover, the effectiveness of units varies depending on the specific situation on the battlefield, the boss, his resistances and game tactics.
To completely close the Abyss [Tower of Adversity], it is necessary to collect at least three combat-ready detachment, so don’t make a strict choice only in favor of S-rank heroes; it’s worth taking a closer look at less flexible damage dealers and supports. The descriptions of the characters explained in detail what account situations they would be useful for.

S rank characters
S are the best WuVa characters and the most powerful resonators, who have practically no flaws or weaknesses. You can create a full-fledged squad around such heroes to cover most of the content. Their usefulness is less dependent on equipment and support characters, making them suitable even if there is not much choice in resonators and weapons.
Phoebe
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Rectifier
- Element: Spectro
- Role: Primary and secondary damage dealer
Phoebe can rightfully be called the most friendly character to F2P players: she has a wide selection of epic weapons and an easy Echo build, and as allies she can easily take the least used characters, without forcing you to tear off the best heroes for her. She shows herself best as a main DD, but in some situations she can play as a secondary damage dealer. Phoebe really wants to see Spectro Rover among her allies, which can be both a plus and a minus for those who are not attracted to playing for the main character. She works best against a crowd of enemies, since her skills have area damage.
Carlotta
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapons: Pistols
- Element: Glacio
- Role: Main DD
Carlotta plays as a hyper-carry, dealing the main damage from the Resonance skill and mostly keeping her distance from enemies. She has very high damage, which is compensated by her single-target focus: she is not that strong in area damage and against groups of mobs. Despite the long cooldown of abilities and the need to constantly be on the field, her skill set and rotation are very easy to master.
Due to her unusual playstyle, she is a great way to diversify the combat of old players, adding new impressions from the game. However, she is quite dependent on her signature Echo, which is not suitable for almost anyone except herself, making farming equipment unprofitable.
Camellia
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: One-handed sword [Sword]
- Element: Havoc
- Role: Main DD
Camellia is the main damage dealer who deals area damage through basic attacks. Unlike many other characters, she is not tied to the ultimate, but is dependent on the concert energy, which greatly distinguishes her from other characters. The girl is extremely effective against both bosses and crowds of opponents, and has the "classic" needs for damage dealers in the form of attack power and crits.
Camellia is currently the strongest main DD in the game, although mobile gameplay for her can be challenging due to her being less mobile than most other heroes and having trouble dealing with enemies that move quickly during combat.
Zhezhi
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Rectifier
- Element: Glacio
- Role: Secondary DD
- Hyde: Zhezhi build
Jaeji is the girl who performs best as a sub-DD. You can build her as a main DD, but she will definitely lose in terms of damage compared to other characters who, according to their mechanics, are initially designed to be main damage dealers. To some extent, she can be considered a semi-buffer, since her abilities include increasing the damage of the Glacio element and the resonance skill.
For this reason, Zhezhi is most beneficial for knocking out those players who lack secondary damage dealers, have main or sub-DD Glacio elements, or characters who attack with the resonance skill. In other combinations, the heroine is no longer so strong, although in any case she is useful due to her high damage.
Jinhsi
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Broadblade
- Element: Spectro [Spectro]
- Role: Main DD
- Guide: Build on Jinxi
Main damage dealer. He enters a kind of stance in which he wields regular and heavy blows, the scales of which depend on the value of the Resonance Scale. However, the hits are still considered classic hits, so they are affected by weapon buffs, allied abilities, etc. She is comfortable with a wide variety of weapons, which makes her very friendly to newbies.
It is worth noting that the heroine has almost no potential in sub-DD, since she requires a lot of attention to herself and does not have buffering abilities. As a main DD, she can easily cover any content and is equally good against single targets and groups of enemies.
Yin Lin [Yinlin]
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Rectifier
- Element: Electro
- Role: Secondary DD
- Hyde: Build on Yin Lin
Yin Lin is a good sub-deader, giving allies a bonus to Electro damage, so he will fit perfectly in a team with a damage dealer with the same element, for example, Calcharo. Her Outro skill increases the Electro damage of the next ally who enters the battlefield, which is why there is little point in her in a team without damage control of the corresponding element. One of its advantages is the ability to cancel the animation of the ultimate, allowing you to switch to the key damage dealer earlier.
Changli
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: One-handed sword [Sword]
- Element: Fusion
- Role: Main DD/Sub DD
- Hyde: Build on Changli
Acts as a good secondary damage dealer for allies of the Fusion element, as it strengthens them through its Outro skill. Doesn’t take up much time on the field; if necessary, he can take the place of the main DD, but this requires a lot of investment.
It is important to note that the heroine is picky about weapons: due to the fact that the main damage of her attacks is considered damage from the skill and resonance scale, it is difficult for her to choose a suitable sword from the free options. For this reason, she can be partly called a constosis-dependent character. However, she will more than recoup her investment, since she performs better than anyone else in the role of sub-DD.
Shorekeeper
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Rectifier
- Element: Spectro
- Role: Support
Currently the strongest support in the game, which provides the team with healing and various buffs. The heroine increases crit. chance and crit. damage to allies by releasing resonance, and heals with the help of the skill. When using the Guardian of the Coast in a team, it is much easier to balance the stats on attacking characters. She is well suited for both hyper-carry squads and teams with several damage dealers.
The main disadvantage of the heroine is that she has very high energy requirements, which forces you to either pull out a signature weapon or very carefully select Echo by characteristics. Also, her abilities are physically limited: they are tied to a specific location, creating a small circle in it, and act only when the active character is within its boundaries.
A rank characters
The A-tier resonators at Wuthering Waves are close to the elite, they definitely shouldn’t be put aside and they can rise higher at any time if favorable conditions are created for them (suitable Echo and team). However, they may sag somewhat as the difficulty of the content increases or at later stages of the game, so for a good result you will have to invest resources in them.
Brant
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: One-handed sword [Sword]
- Element: Fusion
- Role: Damager-support
Brant's skillset stands out from other characters: while most can either deal damage or support the squad, Bant does both. With decent investments, he can be used as a primary or secondary damage dealer, which will additionally provide the squad with healing and shields, as well as a bonus to Fusion damage. An interesting gameplay will be a bonus: Brant is in the air for most of the battle and uses a basic attack.
However, everything comes at a price: this hero is very dependent on his signature, without which he cannot show similarly high results, and the correct selection of stats is extremely important for him, which is why farming decent Echoes can take a long time. In addition, despite the simple rotation in terms of pressing buttons, in battle you need to be very careful when playing for Brant, as he is easy to knock down.
Roccia
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Gloves [Gauntlets]
- Element: Havoc
- Role: Main DD
The hero combines the functions of a buffer and a secondary damage dealer, but is not necessarily the best version of her epic competitors. Her buff is most useful for Havoc-elemental characters, since her attack and Outro buff affects them. At the same time, she is able to deal her own damage, but this comes at the cost of a complex balance of characteristics, which makes the build very difficult, especially for F2P players. She shows great against crowds of enemies and is recommended for players who have a main DD of the elemental Havoc.
Xiangli Yao
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Gloves [Gauntlets]
- Element: Electro
- Role: Main DD
- Hyde: build on Xiangli Yao
Xiangli Yao is the main damage dealer who plays through the release of resonance and is able to deal damage for some time even after becoming inactive. He barely uses normal or heavy attacks, which makes it difficult to combine with some sub-deaders or buffers, such as Mortefi. However, overall this is a fairly versatile and easy to learn character.
Resonant circuits do not change the essence and principle of playing as a hero, but add pure damage, which is beneficial for those players who want to strengthen their resonator in this way.
Verina [Verina]
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Rectifier
- Element: Spectro
- Role: Support
- Hyde: Build for Verina
Verina is one of the best standard characters who is an excellent healer, buffs the team's damage by 20% and prevents an ally from dying when receiving lethal damage. Anticipates a fatal blow and applies a shield for 10 seconds. In battle, he uses a catalyst, which is more intended for support than for causing damage. Places marks on enemies, thanks to which allies can attack the target and receive additional healing while Verina is in the pocket.
Jiyan
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Broadblade
- Element: Aero
- Role: Main DD
- Hyde: Build on Jiyan
Jiyan is a hero who copes well with groups of opponents and single bosses, but, nevertheless, has somewhat lost its relevance since release. During an attack, he turns his sword into a spear, easily parries the enemy's blows and quickly closes the distance. Thanks to the Outro skill, when changing units, it deals huge damage and hits while falling. If you use this skill correctly in battle, you can not only greatly reduce your health and break through the enemy’s resistance, but also dodge an oncoming attack in time.
Encore
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Rectifier
- Element: Fusion
- Role: Main DD
- Hyde: Build on Anchor
Encore is a great standard damage dealer, dealing a lot of damage at long range with her rectifier, but she can sometimes be difficult to parry enemy attacks on. The ultimate radically changes her combat mechanics: Enkor becomes a melee character and quickly strikes with her hand. In this state, you can simply spam attacks to deal with a group of enemies.
The outro skill creates a flame zone around the target with a radius of 3 meters, constantly inflicting Fusion damage on opponents, thanks to which it removes the health of enemies even while buffers and healers are performing their rotations.
Mortefi
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapons: Pistols
- Element: Fusion
- Role: Secondary DD
Mortephy is a strong buffer for any main DD whose rotation includes heavy attacks. Capable of increasing a heavy strike by 15% for 38 seconds, which is ideal for, for example, Calciaro or Jiyan. In addition, the hero has simple animations and easy combat mechanics that can be mastered in just a couple of battles. Can temporarily replace the main damage dealer in battle while he recovers health. With Wave Range 6, when using an ult, increases the attack of all team members by 20% for 20 seconds.
Sanhua
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Sword
- Element: Glacio
- Role: Secondary DD
Sanhua is a reliable support, buffing Glacio damage with simple animations and intuitive combat mechanics. She should be included in teams where the main damage dealer is focused on basic and heavy attacks, since with the help of the Outro skill Sanhua will strengthen the next hero entering the battlefield.
The next hero will receive 38% basic attack damage for 14 seconds or until he switches out of the field. With Wave Range 3, her damage is increased by 35% against targets with HP below 70%, making it easier to deal with stunned bosses.
B rank characters
B-rank resonators have good potential, but they are also burdened with shortcomings that cannot be overlooked, which is why they cannot yet claim positions higher in the list of the best WuVa characters. If you invest in such a hero and select strong allies that complement the character and reveal his abilities, then they can very well become an excellent bonus to the game.
Jianxin
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Gloves [Gauntlets]
- Element: Aero
- Role: Support
- Hyde: Build on Jianxin
Jianxin is a difficult but effective support character to implement, as her full rotation takes up too much of the main DD's precious time. She can heal, place shields on allies and control on enemies, and strengthen heroes with Outro.
However, this requires a series of basic attacks and a heavy hit, which is why she has to spend so much time on the battlefield. Jianxin's control does not extend to bosses, so the girl is effective only in battles with simple opponents in the open world or in certain trials, for example, in the Depths of the Phantom World.
Rover Havoc
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Sword
- Element: Havoc
- Role: Main DD
Rover is the main character who receives the second element Havoc during the storyline; in this form he can take the place of the main DD. Unlike most basic fighters, he does not need an ult to access most of his combos and instead relies on his Resonance energy. Using any skills gradually fills Rover with Power, and as soon as the scale is completely filled, the Dark Angel state can be activated. Then the hero inflicts a lot of destructive damage, replaces all his skills, basic and heavy attacks with enhanced ones, applying a Havok infusion to the sword.
Calcharo
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Broadblade
- Element: Electro
- Role: Main DD
- Hyde: Build on Calciaro
Calcharo is a good damage dealer whose skill gives three subsequent basic attacks the Electro element, and after that he can perform an additional heavy blow in the fall. The mechanics allow him to dodge and parry attacks in time, which is very useful if the team does not have a reliable healer or shield member.
Even without additional bonuses to elemental damage or ATK, Calciaro puts up some good numbers. It can cancel the animation of the ultimate (but the damage will go through to the end), however, it is considered difficult to master for beginners and does not hold up well to competition in comparison with event legendaries.
Danjin
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Sword
- Element: Havoc
- Role: Main DD
Danjin is the strongest epic heroine, but requires excellent reflexes and good knowledge of the combat system. Can use the skill indefinitely, sacrificing his health to increase damage. After accumulating Resonance energy, makes a heavy attack and restores some of its HP. The heroine’s skills force her to avoid taking damage, which is why she requires a shield member to join her squad, not a healer, or very careful play.
Since Danjin's Outro skill has a buff to Havok's damage, it can work well when paired with Rover (Havok). However, there is a big problem: the girl needs to spend a lot of time on the field to collect enough Concert energy, the same is required for Rover, so playing together with two main DPS will be difficult.
Rover Spectro
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Sword
- Element: Spectro
- Role: Secondary DD/Support
- Hyde: Build for Spectro Rover
Rover is the main character, whose gender will depend on the player's choice. He can occupy any position in the game, however, he performs best as a sub-deader, buffing and replacing the main damage dealer. The Resonator has some of the fastest attack animations, making it easy to dodge and parry enemy attacks. With Wave Range 4, when using Rover's ultimate, he constantly restores health to all team members equal to 20% of ATK over 5 seconds. Thanks to the constancy, he can partially replace a healer in the squad, in whose place an additional buffer can be placed.
Baizhi
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Rectifier
- Element: Glacio
- Role: Support
- Hyde: Build on Baiji
Baiji is a support resonator who spends most of his time healing the squad, and also buffs the damage of allies by 15% - the effect will last 20 seconds. Somewhat inferior to Verina, however, it is given out for free when completing the storyline, which makes Baizhi an accessible and good character.
Baiji summons a pet to restore the entire team's health, creating 4 stacks of Residual Essences. They follow active squad members and automatically consume and attack a target every 2,5 seconds, dealing Glacio damage on hit and replenishing HP to all nearby heroes.
C rank characters
C-rank heroes are not the strongest characters in Wuwaring Waves, requiring maximum attention, leveling and resources if you want to achieve high combat performance from them. But all is not lost, because they are also endowed with unique skills and can combine well in well-chosen squads.
Chixia
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapons: Pistols
- Element: Fusion
- Role: Primary DD / Secondary DD
Chisha is a resonator, which, when rotated correctly, causes a ton of damage, however, to do this, the girl will have to continuously attack the enemy and replenish the energy of Resonance and Concert. At the start, it will be difficult to realize the full potential of the heroine, since it is important to know all the features of the bosses and find a window during the battle for an enhanced attack. When leaving the battlefield, Outro uses his skill to release a shock wave around the main target, dealing Fusion damage equal to 530% of Chishiya's attack to all enemies within the blast radius.
Yanwu
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Gloves [Gauntlets]
- Element: Electro
- Role: Secondary DD
Yanwu is a sub-DD that will help deal additional Electro damage while the main character is in the pocket. His damage is not good enough for the unit to take the position of main DD, and the hero also does not have strong buffs for the team. He can temporarily replace the damage dealer, but he won’t make a significant impact without proper leveling and legendary equipment.
Thanks to the ult, it forms a field in which any character, causing damage to the enemy, will cause an additional blow with Electro damage from the Yanwu blade for 15 seconds.
Aalto
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapons: Pistols
- Element: Aero
- Role: Secondary DD/Support
Aalto is a good Aero shooter, who, in a team with any damage dealer of the same Aero element, will buff his damage. Deals a guaranteed crit. strike every 30 seconds, so you can simply take it out of your pocket in time, take a shot and go back, giving way to the main DD. Due to its narrow focus, it is difficult to select a squad for it. He’ll be a great fit for Jiyan’s team, but Aalto’s usefulness ends at the shot.
Yang Yang [Yangyang]
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Sword
- Element: Aero
- Role: Secondary DD
Yang Yang is a free Aero Resonator that you will receive as part of the story. Endowed with mediocre damage, it can pull enemies together, causing Aero damage. Thanks to his Outro skill, he restores energy to the next hero who enters the battlefield, however, in the later stages of the game he will not cope with strong monsters and will sag.
With Wave Range 3, her control is greatly enhanced, with the skill's damage bonus increasing by 40% and her pull range increasing by 33%. The downside is that she needs to hit hard often to build up melodies and make full impact, however, this takes up too much stamina.
Youhu
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Gloves [Gauntlets]
- Element: Glacio
- Role: Support
Yuhu is a healer who can also buff the team. However, due to the specifics of the buffs and their limitations and use, the heroine has not found wide application in many squads, so at the moment she is in a no-op position. If more characters with coordinated attacks are released in the future, Yuhu will sparkle with new colors, but for now she cannot offer anything more than another epic support.
D rank characters
Characters who fall into D-rank cannot be classified as weak or less useful units. Their low position is due to the fact that the heroes have inconveniences in use or they are not so relevant, so they can easily be replaced by other resonators belonging to the same class or element.
Lin Yang [Lingyang]
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Gloves [Gauntlets]
- Element: Glacio
- Role: Main DD
- Hyde: Build for Lin Yang
Lin Yang is the main damage dealer with dynamic animations, using gloves as a weapon, which makes him extremely fast. The unit offers relaxed gameplay where you can deal decent damage with just a couple of buttons, however, its airborne attacks sometimes don't work quite as well as we'd like. The character may receive an unexpected blow from the boss, or Lin Yan himself may miss while jumping along the pillars.
He occupies a low high position because he has no additional buffs and is not team-oriented. He follows his own playstyle and requires a lot of investment, as well as a reliable support on hand who could increase his Glacio damage, such as Sanhua.
Taoqi
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Broadblade
- Element: Havoc
- Role: Support
Taoqi is an interesting resonator who takes the position of a tank: generates shields and takes incoming damage, saving allies and to some extent a fairly independent character, but has a low attack speed, which significantly affects DPS. She easily parries, can stun the enemy, and deftly dodges enemy attacks, but it is worth paying special attention to her defense characteristics and pouring in a lot of resources. In the early game, Taoqi is a great hero. However, in end-game content, she will not be able to handle powerful boss attacks, and her shields will be practically useless.
After reading our guide, you can decide: what characters you would like to get, what squads to form. If you choose heroes depending on the waifu factor, then don’t worry and spend more time leveling up and learning the resonator skills. Then any character will be strong for closing early and middle content.
Lumi
- Rarity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Weapon: Broadblade
- Element: Electro
- Role: Secondary damage dealer/buffer
The heroine combines the functions of a sub-DD and a buffer, but is at the very bottom of the tier list due to the noticeable inconvenience of use. Lumi's long rotation does not allow her to play well in most teams, and she also has high energy requirements, which are difficult to meet. Because of this, at the moment she is not the best character for investment, although in the future, with the release of new heroes, the situation may change.
We hope our shooting list Woosering Waves helped me learn more about resonators and decide on the best characters.
